What is the worst thing that can happen if you don’t have security on your home wireless connection?

I am thinking about going wireless and getting my kid’s and self a laptop…what else do I need to know…I know I need a router…and the laptops need to have wireless capacity….is there more to know?

The worst thing that can happen is someone can connect to your router, run a sniffer and see the content of all the packets transmitted over the network
This would let them read all your usernames, passwords etc for any sites you use, including online banking, paypal, ebay, email.
they could then use this info to empty your bank accounts, possibly sell your car and house, and download lots of kiddy porn onto your pc so your are tucked away in jail while they make free with your details.
The wireless network is very easy to secure however so don’t wory too much.
