The other one is unmonitored alarms. These alarms have in built sirens system in it and a flashing light installed in them. If any break-in is caught, than the siren goes on alerting the neighbors to call the police.
Components of a Home alarms system
Control Panel
All the operation and the controlling of the alarm system are centered in the control panel. These functions include connection to the monitoring stations, either using a phone line or via wireless network like cellular or radio transmissions.
Touchpad
This is where the system is armed and disarmed. They are generally placed near doors so that they can be armed when you are leaving and disarmed when you are back.
Key fobs
A key fob allows you to arm and disarm your alarm system from a place away from the touch pad.
Sirens
It gives you alert signal by generating a sound when the alarm is triggered.
Sensors and motion detectors
The sensors are used to trigger the alarms if the detect any break-in in the monitored area. The sensors are generally used with doors and windows of the house as these are the most easy and convenient way to break-in. Motion detector are activated by movement within the protected room.
Central monitoring station
This is responsible for the monitoring of the alarms system and keeping an eye 24 for 7. If the alarms send an alert message to the monitoring station, it is the responsibility of the central monitoring station to inform the local police and the home owner.
Video monitoring
Surveillance video is an option available with most of the system but you have to pay additional charges for it. The image captured by the Cctv is either sent to the central monitoring stations or recorded in an on-site Digital video recorder system.
