can i buy a Cctv Camera And be able to watch it from anwhere?

ie:i live in london but want to place a camera outside my shop in brighton! but dont want it to recording, just for safety and to see who comes and gos

There are hard drive recorders that have network ports, this allows connection to any broadband line, you will need a static IP address for your broadband supplier, most will do this with slight extra cost.

You can then monitor your shop online (the software provided is secure and needs a password so other people can’t access it) the recorders I used to sell (trade only I’m afraid) even had a hardware firewall built into it, hardware firewalls cannot be hacked, so the whole system is very secure.

The recorder part is very handy as you can see what happened an hour ago or overnight, they have motion detection so only record when theres movement in the cameras field of view.

Multiple channels is good too as you can have one camera watching the other, this stops people getting behind the camera and spraying paint onto the housing rendering it blind.

In the UK if what you see may end up in court, you need to have signs telling people they are being recorded.

Our recorders have the provision for Pan, Tilt and Zoom from your remote location too, this would add enormously to the camera/housing costs, but it is possible.
